April Goals

April is going to be a transitional month.  The first 20 days are going to be about getting over this post-move funk I’ve been in lately.  I have REALLY struggled after moving with getting into any kind of rhythm.  I am planning this month as a month where I get back to that hardcore place I was in.  So my goal for the first 20 days:

Repeat my Turbo Pump challenge I gave myself back in October.  I got AWESOME results with this calendar and more than that – I really enjoyed the combo.  I updated the calendar for where I am with fitness now and here it is!  It’s more intense then the original Turbo Pump because the last time I did this it was coming out of the Reset (and 21 days of no exercise).  This time I’m going IN to the reset, so I can do the workouts I just fine with no need to keep it basic.

I am going to do Shakeology daily.   Which I was doing, but I’ve kind of fallen off during the move and as my routine is off in general, I just have been a mess.  Back on this every day at least one shake….two if I need it.  I have a bag in the hole so to speak, so I can have a few extra shakes w/o being off.  Especially since during the reset I definitely will not have a shake daily.

Get on schedule.  Seriously.  I am having a really hard time getting up on time (which is making my exercise and food prep in the morning a mess….) because I’m not going to bed on time.  It’s a horrible circle.  The problem has been that since I’m closer to work I am allowing myself to get up later.  But somehow I am allowing a 30 minute shift in my wake up time to be an hour – hour and a half shift in my go to bedtime.  Right…that math is so wrong.  So I need to just start going to bed no later than 10:30 pm – end of discussion on the days I need to workout before work (which will be all of them since Sunday will be my rest days for the next 3 weeks).

So that’s my 21 day plan to get my life back on track.  I haven’t gained any weight as of my last weigh in, so that’s how I know my move wasn’t completely off track as I usually gain weight by thinking about food.  But I do feel like I am not as in shape as I was – which is worse to me.  I don’t care what the scale says if I feel great.  I don’t feel great.

So then on the 21st, the Ultimate Reset starts.  I’m going to follow that book 100% like I did before.  No excuses. I will add in the walking and the yoga this time…at least I hope I will.  I think I am much better prepared to go into the reset as far as how to prep the food to make the food prep more efficient, so I should have more time to do this.  But if I ever do have to choose – it’s food prep and rest.  One thing about the reset is that last time I got SO much sleep…it was amazing.  I slept like a baby most days and got 8-10 hours a night.  I could go for that again.

The reset takes me into May.  I haven’t decided what exercise program I will pick up post reset yet.  I have about 6 weeks to decide that.  But trust you will be the first to know 🙂  I am doing a “get to goal” challenge with one of my fellow Team Tenacity coaches right now that I’m excited about.  I’m really excited for the challenge because it’s coming at exactly the right time.  Time to shake off this moving funk and really get myself back on the road.  There is no reason I shouldn’t be at my goal by December 31st 🙂

More than Meets the Eye

So I’ve been a Beachbody coach for a few months now.  As you may remember, at first I just wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with it other than the discount for the mega purchase my hubby and I made.  I didn’t really get too involved with the other coaches on my team until after the reset because of this…and the few interactions I have had with my teammates and upline coaches have really changed my focus.  These people are some of the nicest, most caring, and awesome people I have met in a long time.  Some of the Diamond coaches in my organization are so inspiring that it just really encourages me to stick with my plans and work even harder on my body and to share the healthy information.  I have always wanted to work in health and fitness and what I have learned is that I can build my team and build a community that allows me to do what I’m passionate about – which is help other people reach their health goals while I’m working to achieve all of my own goals.  On our team webinars I learn so much about not just the business – but myself.  And all of that is really helping me focus on my goals.  All of my goals – financial, physical, career, and personal.  I started writing down my goals list again and affixed dates to each of them.  I am waking up every morning with a renewed sense of purpose and a drive to meet all of these goals so I have a life that is fufilling and whole instead of feeling like I’m just going through the motions.

All this to say I’m SO happy I found my Beachbody coach and my team.  I’m finding that what I am getting out of this for my emotional and health well being is so much more than I thought I would get out of it.  This my friends, is the real benefit of becoming a coach.  The network of people.  I wish I knew that, I would have bought in a long time ago.  But maybe I didn’t know because this is the “right time” for me to be in this position.  I may never really know why…but I do know I am going to do the best I can with what I can with this opportunity.
Any rate – I’m throwing my first post-ultimate reset get together at my home today with friends.  We have fruit and veggie and hummus and cheese and pecan crackers (I know…these are new to me too).  Hopefully everyone isn’t too freaked out by our 180 degree change (we used to be the pizza and beer and wings kind of people) ha!
I also had meat for the first time post reset yesterday.  I didn’t have much at all…I was worried about the post effects of having meat for the first time in almost 2 months.  But it was fine.  I had a shakeology this am and feel very normal.  That’s good because I don’t plan on having much meat at home…but occasionally when I am out of the house.  Good that in small doses I don’t have any stomach issues.
I’m also almost ready for INSANITY!!!  Is anyone joining in with me?  I would LOVE to support you through your 60 days as I work through mine 🙂  I will be searching for a good before and after picture (after all…the beachbody challenge prizes are pretty freaking awesome!!) outfit and posting lots of pictures of my progress on instagram (healthyengineer).  My ultimate goal is to end the program wearing non-plus size pants for the first time in oh…maybe 12 years??  It’s a big goal and I know if anything can do it before January – it’s  Shaun T and the gang.
Still hoping to form a challenge group soon and bring you guys into the Team Tenacity family 🙂  Please message or email me if you are interested (healthyengineer @
Last note – if you are on the east coast please be safe and careful over the next few days as Hurricane Sandy approaches.  I live in Virginia and I have my emergency kit packed with cans of veggies/beans, emergency radio, batteries, candles, and flashlights.  I also have some fresh fruit in the refrigerator that will last a few days if needed.  And of course, lots of shakeology that I can just shake with water and drink for some nutrition if this thing lasts a while.  I’m sending lots of well wishes and prayers to everyone and please be safe.  Gas up your car, get some cash from the ATM, charge up your electronics, and work out an emergency contact plan with your loved ones.  I hope this will not be as bad as they are saying, but being diligent in my preparations just in case it is.

Operation Fit through the Holidays

It’s been SUCH  a busy week for me.  My parents and sister were in town this week to move my sister to her new place!  It is kind of awesome to have some family in the same area now.  We have been hanging out and doing lots of moving stuff – unpacking and shopping and all that jazz.  Also watching my Lions and Tigers let me down 🙁 Tonight hopefully will be a better night for my Tigers!  So I haven’t been blogging as much.  But I have been instagramming (find me at healthyengineer) 🙂  I kept up with my workouts and stuck to eating by making good options when out and offering to cook for everyone at my place to make sure there was healthier options.  My folks are fast food kind of people so I tried to get them out of that a little.

Now with that said – I really REALLY want to do some good here people.  I am so excited about this challenge group I want to put together!  I will be doing INSANITY, but I want to open this up to anybody doing any program.  I want to form a great community of people so we can support each other from now until 2013 and beyond!  The holidays are hard.  Schedules get busy with parties and family visits which make it harder to keep up with the exercise schedule.  There are lots of once a year dishes and celebrations that are cause to splurge in the diet area. A lot of people gain weight or maintain.  That has been me in the past and I am determined to change the trend and lose weight this year.  If you are interested in changing your past and moving into the new healthier you, join Operation Fit through the Holidays!  We will keep with our exercise, keep with our shakeology, and keep with focusing on what is important this time of year – family, friends, and celebration.  We will help each other navigate the schedule pitfalls and pick each other up when things get hard.  I have a few prizes for those of you who join (shakeology blender cups, new black fitbook, and I’m thinking up a few more things :)) to keep everyone motivated.  We will also all enter the Beachbody Challenge at theBecause we all love prizes, right?

I’m pretty passionate about this because community is really big to me.  It’s how I’ve lost weight and it’s how I stay on track to keep it off.  It’s how you can learn new things about not just weight and wellness, but almost every aspect of yourself.  I hope you will join me and we can make this thing as big as we can 🙂

The easiest way to get started is to get a challenge pack for the program of your choice.  It’s a bit of a cost savings for the program + shakeology on top of free shipping, which is why I recommend it.  See all of the challenge pack options on my site ( If you are interested in just a program or just shakeology, that works too 🙂  If cost is an issue for you, shoot me an email (healthyengineer @ and I can let you know how to get some discounts.  If you want to find out more about coaching, also shoot me an email and I can tell you about our amazing team – Team Tenacity.

Let’s do this ya’ll 🙂
